Jacksonville's crime rate is currently 53% above the national average; it is, afterall, one of the biggest cities in America. So, if you're thinking about moving to the River City, you should definitely look at HomeSnacks' list of the best neighborhoods for 2022 first.

Yes, folks, HomeSnacks' list of the best neighborhoods in Jacksonville brings light to the city's finest. These Jacksonville gems are some of the safest, they have many of the city's most educated inside their crosswalks and sidewalks and this is evident by the high paying jobs that keep median income levels around $50,766. Not to mentions, there's a bunch of stuff to do in these places too. To get this list, we looked at the latest FBI data, Census report, and BLS for Jacksonville's 196 neighborhoods.

These Jax neighborhoods are not the city's cheapest by any means. To live in neighborhoods that made our list like Ortega Forest or Julington Creek, you're going to have to make at least $50,766/year to afford the $141,855 price tag on a home in these two areas.

But, it's worth it. Jacksonville's best neighborhoods are doing great things. Jacksonville Beach has a jammin' Country Music Fest every June and the Florida Stem Expo in Neptune Beach brings students from all over the state to showcase their skills in science and engineering.

Methodology: How We Determined The Best Jacksonville, FL Neighborhoods In 2022

In order to rank the best neighborhoods in Jacksonville, we had to determine what criteria defines a "best".

Using crime, census, and extrapolated BLS data, we arrived at the following set of criteria:

  • High incomes
  • Low unemployment rates
  • Low crime
  • High home prices
  • High population densities (A proxy for things to do)

We then ranked each neighborhood with scores from 1 to 196 in each category, where 1 was the best.

Next, we averaged the rankings for each neighborhood to create a best neighborhood index.

And finally, we crowned the neighborhood with the lowest best neighborhood index the "Best City Neighborhood In Jacksonville." We're lookin' at you, Saint Johns Bluff.
