Weve analyzed the FBI crime reports data on violent and property crimes for every single neighborhood in Knoxville. Then, we calculated your chances of being the victim of a crime in each one.

How We Determined The Safest Knoxville Hoods In 2020
You can ask people which neighborhoods are the safest, or you can just look at the unbiased raw data. So, instead of relying on speculation and opinion, we analyzed the hard numbers from the FBIs most recent crime report (published in September of 2019) for every neighborhood in Knoxville.
To be more specific, we analyzed the FBIs Uniform Crime Report. We then ran an analysis to calculate each neighborhoods property and violent crimes based on the demographics of the area and reported crime. We used two key criteria:
- Total Crimes Per Capita
- Violent Crimes Per Capita
- Property Crimes Per Capita
We then ranked each neighborhood with scores from 1 to 16 in each category, where 1 was the safest.
Next, we averaged the rankings for each neighborhood to create a safe neighborhood index.
And finally, we crowned the neighborhood with the lowest safest neighborhood index the ‘Safest City Neighborhood In Knoxville.’ We’re lookin’ at you, Old City.

The 5 Safest Neighborhoods To Live In Knoxville For 2020
The violent crime per 100K people in Old City comes in at 357 and the property crime per capita is 2,178 for 2020.
Downtown Knoxville is the downtown area of Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. It contains the city’s central business district and primary city and county municipal offices. It is also home to several retail establishments, residential buildings, and the city’s convention center. The downtown area contains the oldest parts of Knoxville, and is home to the city’s oldest buildings.
The violent crime per 100K people in Downtown Knoxville comes in at 537 and the property crime per capita is 3,271 for 2020.
Mechanicsville is a neighborhood in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, located northwest of the city’s downtown area. One of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, Mechanicsville was established in the late 1860s for skilled laborers working in the many factories that sprang up along Knoxville’s periphery. The neighborhood still contains a significant number of late-19th-century Victorian homes, and a notable concentration of early-20th-century shotgun houses. In 1980, several dozen properties in Mechanicsville were added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Mechanicsville Historic District. The neighborhood was also designated as a local historic district in 1991, subject to historic zoning and design standards.

Parkridge is a neighborhood in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, located off Magnolia Avenue east of the city’s downtown area. Developed as a streetcar suburb for Knoxville’s professional class in the 1890s, the neighborhood was incorporated as the separate city of Park City in 1907, and annexed by Knoxville in 1917. In the early 1900s, the neighborhood provided housing for workers at the nearby Standard Knitting Mills factory.
The violent crime per 100K people in Parkridge comes in at 830 and the property crime per capita is 4,620 for 2020.
