Weve analyzed the FBI crime reports data on violent and property crimes for every single neighborhood in Memphis. Then, we calculated your chances of being the victim of a crime in each one.

How We Determined The Safest Memphis Hoods In 2020
You can ask people which neighborhoods are the safest, or you can just look at the unbiased raw data. So, instead of relying on speculation and opinion, we analyzed the hard numbers from the FBIs most recent crime report (published in September of 2019) for every neighborhood in Memphis.
To be more specific, we analyzed the FBIs Uniform Crime Report. We then ran an analysis to calculate each neighborhoods property and violent crimes based on the demographics of the area and reported crime. We used two key criteria:
- Total Crimes Per Capita
- Violent Crimes Per Capita
- Property Crimes Per Capita
We then ranked each neighborhood with scores from 1 to 13 in each category, where 1 was the safest.
Next, we averaged the rankings for each neighborhood to create a safe neighborhood index.
And finally, we crowned the neighborhood with the lowest safest neighborhood index the ‘Safest City Neighborhood In Memphis.’ We’re lookin’ at you, Windyke-Southwind.

The 5 Safest Neighborhoods To Live In Memphis For 2020
The violent crime per 100K people in Windyke-Southwind comes in at 230 and the property crime per capita is 894 for 2020.
Eads is an unincorporated community in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States named after Civil War engineer James Buchanan Eads. Some of Eads have been annexed by the city of Memphis. Some of its area is currently still unincorporated. Eads is located northeast of Germantown, west of Somerville, east of Memphis and east of Bartlett. The Eads zip code stretches into both Shelby County and Fayette County, including parts of Hickory Withe and Fisherville. Major roads in this area include Macon Road, Collierville-Arlington Road, Raleigh-LaGrange Road, and Houston Levee/Hall Road.

Cordova is a community in Shelby County, Tennessee, Tennessee, United States. Cordova lies east of Memphis, north of Germantown, south of Bartlett, and northwest of Collierville at an elevation of 361 feet.
The violent crime per 100K people in Cordova-Appling comes in at 542 and the property crime per capita is 2,504 for 2020.
The violent crime per 100K people in River Oaks-Kirby-Balmoral comes in at 798 and the property crime per capita is 4,469 for 2020.
The violent crime per 100K people in Hickory Ridge-South Riverdale comes in at 1,512 and the property crime per capita is 4,615 for 2020.
