Newport is located on the Oregon Coast and is a prime tourist site. Newport has a lot of places for a visitor to go for and fantastic ocean experience including the Marine Science Center, Undersea Gardens, the Aquarium and easily accessible beaches. There is a variety of eateries for any taste, including fantastic clam chowder at Mos. As with most coastal towns salt water taffy is abundant. There is plenty of lodging to choose from for a variety of budgets, also. Crime is at a minimum but as with elsewhere it is present. Parking can be a problem when trying to get to the water front and walking some distance could be required. Overall I give Newport a 4 rating.

The Marine Science Center and the Aquarium are my favorites and very visitor friendly. Both provide sea creature experience but at different levels. Access to beaches does not require going up/down a lot of steps. Overall the "ocean" experience is good at Newport.
