Take a city like Eastman.. 20 years ago lots of people there carpooled to work at Robins AFB.. There was a shirt factory and the Lithonia Lighting Factory in Eastman employed people. Plus people did a lot of farming all over South GA. Lithonia has since closed its doors, folks were paid to plant pine trees instead of farming and probably most of the folks who worked at Robins are retired. It is sad to see the decline of so many cities in our state.
