Not every city in our top ten wealthiest cities in Georgia for 2026 can compare to Augusta. There are a ton of wealthy Georgia peaches on this list who know how to roll out the bourgeois Southern charm.
To create this list, we researched the home prices and incomes of the 192 cities in the Peach State with over 3,000.
Cities on our list, like Alpharetta and Milton, are the playgrounds of Georgia’s rich and famous, with great parks, fantastic golf courses, and posh shopping. And if you live in Suwanee, you can hop in your rover and head over to the Atlanta Falcons training camp.
It’s not lost on us that there are multiple cities on our ten best cities to live in Georgia for 2026 that are also on our richest list. Wealthy cities tend to have it all.

Incorporated on December 1, 2006, it was created out of the entire unincorporated northernmost part of northern Fulton County. It is an affluent community, with an average household income within the ZIP code 30004 of $99,412. As of the 2010 census, Milton’s population was 32,661, with an estimated population of 36,662 in 2014.

On July 31, 2012, Brookhaven was approved in a referendum to become DeKalb County’s 11th city. Incorporation officially took place on December 17, 2012, on which date municipal operations commenced. With a population of around 49,000, it is the largest city in DeKalb County. The new city stretches over 12 square miles.

How we determined the richest places in Georgia for 2026
The first thing most people reach for is personal income. After all, rich people have really high salaries. But one statistic doesn’t capture what it means to be one of the “richest places,” so we applied Saturday Night Science to two measures from the 2020-2024 American Community Survey:
- Median household income
- Median home value
Median household income is the most digestible way to understand how rich a place is, and home values are a measure of accumulated wealth. The two combine to define a “Rich City.”
After collecting the data for all 192 places in Georgia with more than 3,000 people, we ranked each place from 1 to 192 on both criteria, then averaged the two ranks into a “Rich Score.” The place with the lowest Rich Score, Milton, is crowned the richest city in Georgia for 2026.

Milton is the richest place in Georgia for 2026
When we set out to identify the richest places in Georgia, we weren’t sure what we’d find, but it ended up being some of the best places to live in the state. The richest cities in Georgia are Milton, Alpharetta, and Johns Creek, and when you look at the data they sit at the very top of the income ladder for everyone who lives there.
Breaking into the top ten takes a median household income of at least $104,340. If you’re curious about the other end of the ledger, the poorest places are listed to the right.
