It is located on the south bank of the Menominee River, at its mouth at Green Bay, part of Lake Michigan; to the north is Stephenson Island, part of the city preserved as park. During the lumbering boom of the late 19th century, Marinette became the tenth-largest city in Wisconsin in 1900, with its peak population of 16,195.

River Falls is a city in Pierce and St. Croix counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is adjacent to the Town of River Falls in Pierce County and the Town of Kinnickinnic in St. Croix County. River Falls is the most populous city in Pierce county. The population was 15,000 at the 2010 census, with 11,851 residing in Pierce County, and 3,149 in St. Croix County. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is about 30 miles east of the center of that region.

Methodology: How we determined the whitest places in Wisconsin for 2026
To rank the whitest places in Wisconsin, we used Saturday Night Science to look at Census demographic data.
We had to look at the number of white people living in each city in Wisconsin on a per capita basis. In other words, the percentage of white people living in each city in Wisconsin.
We looked at table B03002: Hispanic OR LATINO ORIGIN BY RACE. Here are the category names as defined by the Census:
- Hispanic or Latino
- White alone*
- Black or African American alone*
- American Indian and Alaska Native alone*
- Asian alone*
- Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone*
- Some other race alone*
- Two or more races*
Our particular column of interest here was the number of people who identified as White alone.
We limited our analysis to places with a population greater than 5,000 people. That left us with 137 cities.
We then calculated the percentage of residents that are White. The percentages ranked from 96.3% to 31.7%.
Finally, we ranked each city based on the percentage of the White population, with a higher percentage being more White. Mayville took the distinction of being the most White, while Milwaukee was the least White city.
We updated this article for 2026. This report represents our eleventh time ranking the whitest cities in Wisconsin.
