I've lived here all my life and what I've witnessed is growth that caters to College kids instead of locals. Growth in the US is huge and rural towns are d**n near lost. Boone went from zero crime to enough to keep law enforcement busy. We don't see Murder, we see overdose from drugs like Molly, LSD, special K, C*****e and adderall. Cops are told not to "pull" over students and everything is Hush Hush. Very political now.

Everything is college or hospital. The MAll is a joke, there is no place to shop but Belk and TJ Maxx.

The best place to have a nice dinner is the Peddler, expensive but incredibly delicious.

What you have to remember is that the town of Boone is primarily a college town for Appalachian State University. This is why the income rate tends to be low.

Beautiful area and the very wealthy Blowing Rock, NC to the south. Please do not let this list persuade you away from visiting.
