I have lived here my whole life. It feels like we are declining. The crime rate has increased, the number of murders has been on the uprise. The public schools are not rated very well, the county and private schools are good.
The nice things about Erie are the "beach" Presque Isle. It's miles of sand and water with bike trails and walking trails, very friendly and free. The things I don't like about Erie are the bad drivers, the lack of things to do, the traffic lights and lack of traffic flow.
I like Erie because it is not overly large and there are many interesting places to visit. I especially enjoy Presque Isle, the state park that as 'almost an island' provides nice sandy beaches for sunbathing and swimming and pleanty of trails as well as boating and kayaking.
Presque Isle has many event that take place throughout the year even when the summer season has ended.
